Your child’s behavioral health challenges can affect their growth and development, whether at home or in school. We offer child and adolescent psychiatry programs or pediatric therapy that specifically address their needs and redirect them on the right path to success.
What is pediatric therapy?
This is an intervention program that’s specifically catered to the needs of children and adolescents. Regular psychotherapy may not work for children as it does for adults; children may need a structured approach to their treatment that can help them express themselves freely and communicate their needs without outright saying them.
Included in the pediatric therapy is:
- Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT)
- Pediatric Psychology
- Play Therapy
Additional support programs may include:
- Medication management
- Counseling and psychotherapy
- Other forms of pediatric therapy (arts/music/supported group)
- Outreach and community integration
- Any combination of the above programs
In all these programs, the parents’ active participation is highly encouraged.
How to know if your child should avail of pediatric therapy
Sudden mood changes can be an essential sign. But negative symptoms and circumstances like the following should also be considered:
- social withdrawal
- frequent and irrational anger outbursts
- speech and other developmental delays
- decreased interest in pre-loved activities
- sexual abuse
- family issues (like separation)
- and more
How to prepare your child for pediatric therapy
Communicating with them is the best first step. Make them understand just how safe and comfortable they can be during their sessions and that their therapist is their friend and ally. Be sure to be with them during the first few sessions, assuring them that you are with them along this journey.
