Mission
Manuel (as in Emmanuel) means “God is with us”. We believe and have faith that healing is from a supreme power, and that is something within each person’s reach. Therefore, we aim to work collaboratively with our clients at the center of the care and decision-making about their treatment choices. And through this partnership, we can rekindle hope, elevate comfort, and promote wellness in our clients, their families, and other individuals that come in contact with our quality innovative mental health service. This will make the recovery process a smooth one. We work on attaining this through our convenient in-home and community Telepsychiatry and Concierge services where we do Comprehensive Psychiatric Evaluation and Diagnosis, Psychiatric Medication Management, and Individual and Family Counseling.

Meet Our Owner
Ms. Keren, is a Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) with prescriptive authority. Ms. Akumah possesses close to 2 decades of providing direct patient care services; including thorough psychiatric evaluation/assessment, diagnosing, and treating mental health disorders across the lifespan. At KeraManuel Behavioral Health Services, Ms. Akumah serves clients across the lifespan with a special concentration on adolescent, adult, family and the veterans. She is passionate about providing holistic, quality, compassionate, and personalized mental health services to her clients. Ms. Akumah is known for her clinical skills, enhanced by natural ability to build rapport with clients and families. At KeraManuel Behavioral Health Services, Ms. Akumah bases her treatment on evidence-based guidelines blended with clinical experience, personal observation, and intuition. Ms. Akumah has a wide range of experience combining psychiatric-mental health, medical-surgical, acute care nursing, telemetry, and correctional mental health care delivery. This allowed her to attend to the psychiatric needs of her clients who may also have complex medical illnesses.
As a PMHNP-BC, Ms. Akumah’s role is multifaceted, and she’s known for educating clients, mentoring staff and students, medication management, mental health advocacy, and counseling. She has training in a wide range of psychiatric disorder not limited to, Anxiety Disorders, Insomnia, Depression, Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, PTSD, and ADHD. Keren values interdisciplinary education and inter-professional collaboration for a whole person- or patient-centered approach to health and wellness.
Education and Board Certification with Prescriptive Authority
Keren started her career as a certified elementary school teacher from Ghana, West-Africa, 2002. In 2003, she acquired Nursing Assistance Certification (CNA/GNA) from Prince George’s Community College United States. She continued to become a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), and an Associate Degree Nurse (ADN) from Howard Community College (HCC), 2008 and 2012 respectively. In 2014, she continued her studies in University of Maryland University College (UMUC), and received her Bachelor Degree in Nursing RN-BSN in 2016. She later earned her Master’s in Nursing as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner from Walden University in 2020.
