What is a Comprehensive Psychiatric Evaluation?

A Comprehensive Psychiatric Evaluation is an extensive assessment and diagnosis of one’s emotional state and any possible mental health conditions they suffer from. At our agency, we specialize in a wide spectrum of psycho-emotional conditions found in adults and children. Through the behavior they present and the results found in their laboratory exams and other psychological assessments, we then find an appropriate treatment option that fits their needs and preferences.

Who will be evaluated?

Anyone. Often, family members will come to us with the suspicion that their loved one may be suffering from a mental health condition because of the symptoms they show, and this is especially helpful to us to have insight from family members, as this will be included on the individual’s assessment files. Additionally, the family’s participation in the treatment process is essential for the loved one’s fast and comprehensive recovery.

Is it possible to be diagnosed with two disorders?

Yes! This is called a “dual diagnosis”. This is often found in individuals who struggle with mental health disorders and substance abuse at the same time.

What is involved in the diagnostic process?

Every individual has a unique evaluation process that is in tune with their needs and preferences. But generally, here are the evaluation tests we may need from you:

  • Behavioral assessment (as observed and made by a psychiatrist)
  • Personal health records (including medication files, previous health conditions, and current treatment if there is any)
  • Family history and genetics results
  • Physical diagnostic exams (bloodwork and x-ray are among the common)
  • Educational assessments
  • Speech and language assessments
  • Clinical interview and other additional assessments

Find clarity in your mental wellness with the help of our experts. During the entirety of your treatment and recovery, we will be with you, guiding you on the ideal next steps that won’t compromise your treatment progress.
